Hookah was originally invented in India in 15th century. It was believed to be less harmful than other forms of tobacco. It was later exported to Middle East spreading from Iran to Turkey to Egypt. Hookah was a luxury item back then and was only for the wealthier families, however nowadays is a popular social smoking device for men and women.
